Four months since the TV adaptation of the Fernando Poe Jr. blockbuster Ang Probinsyano was announced by ABS-CBN over the summer, this grand production from Dreamscape Entertainment Television will finally see its premiere on September 28 on the network’s prime time block.
Anticipation is high for this first venture between the late King of Philippine Movie’s FPJ Productions and ABS-CBN, which has been entrusted the former’s entire film library under the guidance of network president and CEO Charo Santos Concio. More importantly for the action king’s wife, Susan Roces, Ang Probinsyano, will bring attention to the country’s police force and their heroism.
“Maraming ginawang pelikulang si FPJ tungkol sa kapulisan dahil malapit sila sa puso ni FPJ,” Roces had said.
Ang Probinsyano’s TV adaptation is the brainchild of its lead actor Coco Martin who plays the role of twins Ador and Cardo, estranged from each other because of poverty. Nevertheless, both took on the path of law enforcement. Ador is a celebrated police officer, with a loving family as his support. Cardo on the other hand, loves the solitude of the mountains as a Special Actions Forces Trooper.
Their lives take a turn when Ador gets himself entangled in a syndicate, which leaves him dead. To cover for this fact, Cardo was ordered to become his brother, family and all, and be re-united with the grandmother whom he detests.
Joining Coco in the powerhouse cast of the series are Maja Salvador, Arjo Atayde, Albert Martinez, Agot Isidro, Bela Padilla, Joey Marquez, Jaime Fabregas, and Susan Roces herself. It will also introduce Simon Pineda, and feature Dennis Padilla, Ana Roces, Zaijian Jaranilla, Malou Crisologo, Malu De Guzman, Marvin Yap, Pepe Herrera, Lester Llansang, John Medina, Michael Jornales, Gio Alvarez and Tess Antonio.
Ang Probinsyano is directed by Avel Sunpongco and Malu Sevilla, and will air nightly on ABS-CBN’s Prime Time Bida Block.
