Inaugurated last week with the presence of Sen. Jude Estrada, an avid car enthusiast, and his mother, Mayor Guia Gomez of San Juan, was the Lotus showroom near the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City. The Lotus brand is part of the Autohub Group that has under its wings prestigious British brands like Rolls Royce and Mini. The initial Lotus line-up includes the Elise S Club Racer, the Elise S 220 Cup, the Exige S Roadster and the Evora S Sport Racer.
Lotus Cars Manila VIP Sales Manager Allen Pascual told Fast Times all the models displayed in the brand’s first showroom have been sold out except for the Exige S Roadster.
“After tonight’s [August 5] event, the three will be shipped off to their new owners,” he said, “Two are from Metro Manila and one is from Baguio City.”
The prices of the four Lotus models are: Elise S Club Racer (with manual transmission), P4.65 million; Elise S 220 Cup (M/T), P5.35 million; Exige S Roadster (M/T), P7.5 million; and Evora S Sport Racer (with automatic transmission), P8.88 million.
With its price range, the British brand is squaring off with the high-powered rides of Porsche, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes Benz.
The latest line-up from the Lotus sports a styling that is easily identifiable with the iconic British brand with is flowing sexy lines and muscular rear housing the rear tires. This modern look of Lotus is a departure from the design of the Esprit that had sharp edges.
Pascual said the Exige S A/T will come out at the end of the year, while the 400-horsepower Evora 400 will be launched in the first quarter of 2016.
