Messages of sympathy poured out for Mariel Rodriguez and her husband Robin Padilla on Friday at a press conference for the former’s TV morning program. Happy Wife, Happy Life. This was after the sad news broke out that the TV host suffered a miscarriage late Wednesday.
“There are words to comfort them, but all we can offer them are our prayers. [Let us] give them time and space,” said Gelli de Belen-Rivera, who will pinch-hit for her Mariel on the program beginning Monday.
“Kahit hindi natin naiintindihan ang nangyari, ang sigurado ay may plan si God for Mariel and Robin and He’ll have something great for them eventually.” LJ Moreno-Alapag added.
For her part, Danica Sotto-Pingris expressed, “Mariel, know that we’re really praying [for you]. We’re sad over what happened. May purpose naman lahat ng bagay, at hindi sa atin ibibigay ni Lord ang problema kung hindi natin kaya. Alam kong kaya nila ito kahit napakasakit talaga.”
Mariel lost triplets in this her second miscarriage, following the loss of the showbiz’ couple’s would-be first born in March.
The sad news was first confirmed by Robin’s manager Betchay Vidanes to Rappler.com.
“We have received a confirmation message from Mr. Robin Padilla regarding the status of their pregnancy,” Vidanes’ message read. “It is with such a heavy heart that we are informing you that Ms. Mariel has suffered a miscarriage on August 12 at 6:30 p.m. and the couple have lost the triplet pregnancy.”
Robin has earlier opted out of Metro Manila Film Festival entry Nilalang starring Maria Ozawa due to his wife’s delicate pregnancy.
Mariel has asked her home studio TV5 for a leave of absence.
