Another NFL player arrested on assault allegation

LOS ANGELES: With the National Football League (NFL) reeling from a spate of violent off-field incidents involving players, Phoenix police arrested Arizona Cardinals’ Jonathan Dwyer on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) on suspicion of assault, local media reported. The Arizona Republic reported on its website that the 25-year-old running back had been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, although a police spokesman offered no further details of the case. Dwyer is in his fifth NFL season. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals in March.
