Another teen best-seller on the big screen

James Reid, Nadine Lustre and Joseph Marco bring to life Alesana Marie’s paperback characters

Skylight Films teams up with Viva Films for the very first time for the big-screen adaptation of Alesana Marie’s best-selling hip novel Talk Back and You’re Dead.

A title of Psicom Publishing Inc., Talk Back and You’re Dead (TBAYD) gained mainstream popularity among teenagers not only on paperback but also on digital format via Wattpad.

The novel’s highly anticipated film version assembles three of the industry’s popular young stars, James Reid, Nadine Lustre and Joseph Marco. They are set to play the roles of Top, Sam and Red respectively, who are the novel’s central characters.

Directed by Andoy Ranay from a screenplay by Keiko Aquino, TBAYD is a different kind of love story, which infuses teen romance with high-pumping action, adrenaline and danger.

The film kicks the “good girl meets bad boy” plot a notch higher as it remains faithful to elements of the novel, which endeared it to a great number of young readers.

As such, fans of TBAYD can look forward to seeing their favorite characters come to life in the love triangle of Top, Sam and Red through the narrative’s witty lines and romantic scenes.

TBAYD comes closely at the heels of James and Nadine’s highly successful first movie Diary ng Panget: The Movie (Viva Films), which is also a film adaptation of a famous teen novel.

With Skylight Films co-producing the project, TBAYD is also a homecoming of sorts for James who gained nationwide popularity as the big winner of 2010’s Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Joseph in the movie is seen as a big boost for the project what with his reputation as one of ABS-CBN’s “hottest cover boys.”

TBAYD will open in cinemas nationwide on August 20.
