ANTIPOLO CITY: Mayor Casimiro Ynares 3rd said officials are considering suspending the support given to the local police in wake of accusations that some policemen may be involved in the illegal drug trade and extrajudicial killings. In a statement, Ynares expressed disappointment over allegations made during a Senate hearing on the reported killings resulting from the government’s anti-drug operation. The city government has provided the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Antipolo City with vehicles, computers and hand-held radios. It also provides monthly allowances to policemen, regular gasoline allocation for all police vehicles and funding for police programs and activities besides construction of building facilities. Ynares explained that suspension of assistance is only temporary until the PNP-Antipolo is cleared of the negative implication.
