Aquino appoints 11 new judges for Metro Manila


PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd has appointed 11 new judges  for Metro Manila.
The appointment was contained in two separate transmittal letters sent to Chief Justice Maria Sereno by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., stating that Aquino has named new judges.

The new appointees are Judge Nino Delvin  Embuscado, Makati Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC) Branch 66; Judge Juliet Azarraga Chonyongco, Caloocan MeTC Branch 53; Judge Maria Ella Cecilia Dumlao-Escalante, Quezon City MeTC Branch 35; Judges Boomsri  Rodolfo and Don Ace Mariano Alagar,  Quezon City MeTC; and Maria Lorenza Barias Siosana for Caloocan City MeTC Branch 49.

Appointed to Manila courts are Judges Michelle Divina-Delfin for Branch 8, Minerva Alejandria-Bautista for Branch 16 and Paul Flor for Branch 20.

Other appointees are Judge Remiebel Unica Mondia for Pasay City MeTC Branch 45 and Judge Rolando de Guzman Jr for Pasay City MeTC Branch 72.

The appointees were screened by the Judicial and Bar Council  prior to their appointments.

The seven-man council, which is constitutionally mandated to screen and vet nominees to the President for vacant posts in the judiciary and the Offices of the Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman, is headed by Sereno, with, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel 3rd, Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima as ex-officio members.
