Aquino attends Villar’s birthday


President Benigno Aquino 3rd attended a mass Saturday celebrated for the 65th birth anniversary of former senator Manuel Villar in Las Piñas City.

The President arrived at 9 a.m. at the Sanctuario de San Exekiel in Las Piñas City for the mass. He was accompanied by Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson.

In his message, the President praised the former senator for his humility and sportsmanship after losing the presidential race in 2010. Although fierce adversaries during the campaign, Villar conceded immediately after realizing his defeat, the President said.

The former senator also offered whatever assistance he can give to the Aquino administration after the election, Aquino said.

Also during the mass, Sen. Cynthia Villar, announced that the former senator was donating his retirement pay for a project in Balanga in Bataan. The former senator’s family originated from Orani, Bataan.

The senator ran under the banner of the administration during the senatorial election in 2013. She is one of the President’s ally in the Senate.
