PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd on Friday denied reports that several Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels under former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) governor Nur Misuari surrendered to the government.
“Mali ata yun, walang sumuko,” President Aquino replied when asked about the authenticity of a report citing that 80 member of the MNLF surrendered last night.
No one surrendered last night, but there were MNLF members arrested, Aquino pointed out.
Speaking to reporters, the President said that the objectives behind Misuari and MNLF’s actions remain unclear.
But, he assured that that all of the government’s actions here have been decisive.
“Siguraduhin na walang unnecessary loss of blood, ano. Iyong preservation of life is the paramount mission,” Aquino said
Meanwhile, the President said that the government is looking at what possible charges can be filed against the members of Misuari-MNLF faction for the Zamboanga City attack.
He noted that they want to ensure sufficient evidence before filing of charges to avoud dismissal of weak cases in the past.
