Aquino endorses Arroyo ally in Zambales

IBA, Zambales: Pres. Benigno Aquino 3rd endorsed the reelection bid of incumbent Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., saying “he has done well for the province and should continue being its leader”.

Ebdane is a close ally of Aquino’s political foe, former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He was former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Department of Public Works and Highways secretary under the Arroyo administration.

Administration presidential candidate and Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas also endorsed Ebdaneand his Sulong Zambales Party during the LP’s campaign sortie in this capital town recently.

Aquino 3rd said the Sulong Zambales Party is a partner in Daang Matuwid program of his administration.

The president was in Iba to lead in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Out-Patient Department building at Zambales provincial hospital. He also distributed TSeKaP kits for the anti-dengue campaign of the Department of Health.

Meanwhile, Ebdane is facing a formidable tandem in his attempt for a third term with former Zambales governors Amor Deloso and Vicente Magsaysay, two powerful political clans in the province that joined forces against him.

Magsaysay’s daughter, Angel Magsaysay-Cheng, is running as vice governor of Deloso.

The Delosos and Magsaysays used to wage fierce battles in past gubernatorial races with Deloso enjoying the support of most northern towns while Magsaysay holds sway in the southern towns especially Subic, Castillejos and San Marcelino.
