President Benigno Aquino 3rd and US Ambassador to Manila Philip Goldberg will grace the 10th International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines on May 21 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, in Pasay City (Metro Manila).
The President has been invited as guest of honor at the welcome reception hosted by organizers of the food exhibition on the same day and is expected to arrive at 10 a.m.
The US ambassador, meanwhile, will open the US Pavilion at the food exhibition at 2 p.m.
IFEX Philippines is a biennial food show in Manila organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry.
This year, the show is highlighted by the Philippine government as an official event of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit 2015.
The USA Pavilion will house a US Department of Agriculture (USDA) business lounge and 12 exhibition booths featuring a wide variety of high-quality US food, beverages and ingredients promoted by local and US companies: Alternatives Food Corp., Butterball LLC, Dane International Commodities Corp., Equilibrium Intertrade Corp., Goodway International Trading Corp., Gold Coast Ingredients, International Markets Brands, Link Import Export Enterprise Inc., Mix Plant Inc., NFAF Marketing Services, Nufoods Inc. and Pacific Guam Co.
Goldberg is expected to visit the Philippine Cold Chain Project (PCCP) exhibit area located on the 2nd floor of SMX Convention Center.
PCCP is a four-year project funded by USDA’s Food for the Progress program and implemented by Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development.
It seeks to increase agricultural productivity for the local fishery and farming sector in Caraga region (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur).
