Aquino grants SBMA workers’ wage hike


SUBIC BAY FREEPORT: Employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) on Tuesday rejoiced upon learning President Benigno Aquino 3rd had granted their request for salary adjustment based on the existing Salary Standardization Law. A memorandum to Budget Secretary Florencio Abad dated March 22 from the Office of the President signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. states SBMA Chairman Roberto Garcia’s request for the adoption of Salary Standardization Law (SSL) III, 4th Tranche Salary Rates for SBMA employees effective January 1, 2016 has been approved for implementation subject to applicable budgetary, accounting and laws, rules and regulations. SBMA Employees Association president Elmer Libo in a letter to President Aquino, earlier said the approval of the salary adjustment will uplift the morale of the agency’s employees.
