PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd will lead a prayer for national consecration during an anniversary program of the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) religious movement, organizers said on Thursday.
A heavy traffic to be brought about by congestion of vehicles at Manila’s Rizal Park (Luneta) is expected on Friday afternoon as the JIL marks its 36th founding year.
With more than a million people expected to attend the program, the JIL organizers appealed for understanding from motorists over the gridlock that the event may cause.
They, however, assured that the “strict measures” will be implemented to minimize the congestion.
Meanwhile, the JIL founder, Bro. Eddie Villanueva, said this year’s celebration is anchored on the theme, “Pursue Peace and Be Holy, Without Which No One Can See God.”
“We find this as a very relevant theme for such a time as this. Every one of us must look inside our hearts and strive to pursue peace,” according to Villanueva.
He challenged all Christians to “actively participate” in pushing forward reforms in a peaceful manner especially on issues that have impact on the country’s future.
“The Church must be salt and light to the world and lead in achieving peace. But we cannot be salt and light if we do not actively take part in the affairs of our nation,” Villanueva said.
True peace, he added, cannot exist apart from the holiness that comes only from God.
