President Benigno Aquino 3rd will be meeting Myanmar President Thein Sein and pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi during his day-long visit to Myanmar to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia.
The President and his delegation flies to Myanmar at 7:45 a.m. today.
Aquino had said that he will invite Myanmar’s leader and Suu Kyi to the Philippines.
A statement from the WEF website said that the event will be attended by more than 900 participants from 55 countries.
They will convene in Nay Pyi Taw on June 5 to 7 under the theme “Courageous Transformation for Inclusion and Integration.”
Aquino’s official delegation to Myanmar includes Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla, National Economic and Development Authority chief Arsenio Balisacan, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex Chua, and Presidential Communications Development Secretary Ramon Carandang.
The President returns to Manila at 12:05 a.m. Saturday.
