• Aquino on his love life: ‘I still have a chance’

Despite apparently dismal chances of having a shot at romance, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd still claimed that there is always hope in finding the right person he can spend the rest of his life with.

Aquino, the country’s first bachelor President, on Wednesday joked about his unmarried status but said he still has a chance when he steps down in 2016 at the end of his term.

“I’m Noynoy Aquino. I’m single, and [have]no children. Pero mga 460 days na lang ho, may laban na ako [But in 460 days, I have a chance],” Aquino said in his speech during the TESDA-Coke STAR Women’s Month Celebration at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City (Metro Manila).

He was referring to the number of days left in his administration.

Aquino, since being elected President in 2010, has been teased about his status as a bachelor.

In an earlier interview, he talked freely about his love life, admitting that he was not in a relationship but that he was not giving up on the possibility of settling down, hopefully with a “younger wife so we could still have a child.”

That would have to wait until he steps down in 2016 and he returns to “normal” civilian life, the President said.

“Normal” in this case means enjoying the waters of Boracay and “touching base” with his neighbors in West Avenue, Quezon City, where he lived before taking residence at Malacañang.

Aquino admitted that his most recent relationship ended several months ago but he declined to say if he has a new “prospect” now.

“They say it’s important to keep a little to yourself. I would just keep it to myself,” said Aquino, who is being romantically linked to 2015 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Pia Wurtzbach.

The President was linked last year to lawyer Mariness Ledesma and beauty queen-turned-actress Bianca Manalo.
