Charges against those allegedly involved in the multibillion-peso pork barrel fund scam will be filed “not later than Monday,” according to President Benigno Aquino 3rd.
“The first charges with regards to this issue, I understand, will be filed not later than Monday, Aquino said, citing a possibility that “it can be filed by Friday.”
“I will be given as I promised you all,” the President tol reporters. “So a complete briefing sometime this week; and the commitment is not later than Monday next week and possibly by Friday this week.”
Asked about the charges againts other personalities who were operating a similar scam like Napoles, President Aquino said, “There’s an ongoing parallel investigation by the Department of Justice.”
It will be recalled that the President said that “cases are ready to be filed and at least two to three cases.”
But he did not mention who will be charged, while he mentioned that there was already a non-bailable case filed, apparently referring to Janet Lim-Napoles and her brother Reynald Lim for illegal detention.
Meanwhile, President Aquino said that he doesn’t recall meeting Napoles when he was a lawmaker.
“She doesn’t look familiar whatsoever,” he said. “Did I ever meet her? Iyong to the level na baka nakipag-kamayan o may nag ‘hi’ ganoon, I can’t even say I ever said ‘hi’ to her.”
“I tried to research in my mind if I ever came across her or even heard of her name; and I hope I am not turning senile but I don’t recall any incident,” he added. CATHERINE S. VALENTE
