ROMBLON, ROMBLON: Despite having his hands full dealing with the country’s problems, President Benigno Aquino 3rd again expressed his abiding hope that he can still find a partner and get married.
This was revealed by the President himself in the middle of his speech at the Romblon Public Theater, where he led the ceremonial unveiling of the marker of two new buildings of the recently upgraded Romblon Provincial Hospital.
“Basi kung diri ko makilaya ang akon palangga [I might find my love here],” the President said, to the delight of the audience.
Aquino, since being elected President in 2010, has long been teased about his status as a bachelor.
In an earlier interview, Aquino talked freely about his love life, admitting that he was not currently in a relationship but that he was not giving up on the possibility of settling down, hopefully with a “younger wife so we could still have a child.”
That would have to wait until he steps down in 2016 and he returns to “normal” civilian life, the President said.
“Normal” in this case means enjoying the waters of Boracay and “touching base” with his neighbors in West Avenue, Quezon City.
Aquino admitted that his most recent relationship ended several months ago but he declined to say if he has a new “prospect” now.
“They say it’s important to keep a little to yourself. I would just keep it to myself,” said Aquino, who is said to be smitten with a twenty something flight attendant whom he met during a recent trip to Europe.
The President was linked last year to lawyer Mariness Ledesma and beauty queen-turned-actress Bianca Manalo.
After his two-year relationship with Valenzuela City councilor Shalani Soledad ended in 2010, the President was said to have dated stylist Liz Uy and TV host Grace Lee.
