President Benigno Aquino 3rd will cast his vote at his hometown in Tarlac province today, a Palace official said on Sunday.
After casting his vote, the President would closely monitor developments on election day, according to Palace deputy spokesman Abigail Valte.
”Certainly, opo boboto naman po ang Pangulo [Certainly, the President will cast his vote],” Valte said.
She noted that Mr. Aquino expects to get updates from the ground when polling precincts open.
The President, she said, expects various heads of agencies assisting the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to send their reports.
The president also wants to make sure all plans for clean elections by the poll body, Philippine National Police, and Armed Forces of the Philippines go smoothly.
”Pagbukas pa lang po ng mga presinto, magmo-monitor na po ang Pangulo, kahit naman po maghihintay siya para bumoto ay patuloy pa naman po ang pagpasok ng mga monitoring updates sa Pangulo through the various heads of the agencies that are assisting the Comelec in the conduct of the elections [As soon as the precincts open, he will start monitoring reports from the field through the various heads of the agencies that are assisting the Comelec in the conduct of the elections],” she added
Meanwhile, Valte called on Filipinos to exercise their right to suffrage by choosing the next set of leaders of the country.
”We reiterate our appeal to everybody to go out and exercise your right to suffrage and your right to vote. So please go out, exercise your right to vote, and guard your votes well,” Valte added
The president had cast his vote in Tarlac in 2010 when he was running for president.
