PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd will serve as host at ceremonies in Malacañang Thursday for the official visit to the country of His Highness Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, who arrived in Manila on Wednesday night.
The monarch had visited the Philippines in 1999.
Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Prince Albert will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Park (Luneta) before proceeding to Malacañang where he will hold bilateral talks with President Aquino.
”The two leaders and their respective delegations are expected to discuss bilateral issues of common interest such as economic cooperation, humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and environmental protection, among others,” he added.
According to Coloma, a state luncheon in Prince Albert’s honor will follow the bilateral meeting.
The visiting prince will be in the country from April 6 to 7.
Prince Albert II, a well-known advocate of strengthening marine environmental protection, is set to visit Palawan and the Tubbataha Reefs National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In his 1999 visit, the monarch went to the Subic freeport where he interacted with Aeta tribesmen.
