Aquino told not to invoke Kentex fire victims in vain

By micromanaging the investigations into the deadly Kentex factory fire, President Aquino seems to be desperate in covering up his five-year track record of systematically destroying the welfare of Filipino workers, a lawmaker said today.

“Nagtuturo na naman si Pangulong Aquino alyas Boy Sisi sa LGUs katulad nang ginawa niya noon pa sa Yolanda, pero dapat ibalik sa palasyo ang paniningil. Sa kanyang administrasyon lalong naging mapaniil ang Labor Code, kumalat ang kanser ng ENDO contract labor, pati ang pagbansot sa minimum wage,” Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Emmi De Jesus said.

The militant legislator said it was very unbecoming of the president of the republic taking on the roles of crime scene investigator, judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one during a press conference in the palace complete with a model mockup plan of the burned down building, as he delivered a summary judgment against guilty parties without allowing due process for those publicly accused.

“Remember, it was his henchmen in the Department of Labor that issued Department Order 131- 13 that radically changed the already weakened factory inspections by allowing capitalists to rubber stamp their compliance certificates. It’s true the city government of Valenzuela has accountability in the deaths of the 72 who perished in the Kentex fire, but Noynoy’s top labor bureaucrats cannot wash their hands of this carnage,” De Jesus added.

De Jesus also scored Aquino’s partymates in Congress for sitting on the occupational safety bill, House Bill 4635 filed by GWP, that would have put in tighter safeguards in health and safety inspections and outlawed DOLE Order 131-13. She noted that the DOLE and Malacanang started making noises about the pending bills days after the Kentex fire.

  1. President Noynoy can not even win a congressman seat in 2016 no matter how much money he spends.
