HIS Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco met Thursday with President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang.
A welcome ceremony was held in honor of the prince, who arrived in Manila Wednesday night for a two-day official visit.
After being greeted by Aquino and introduced to Cabinet members, Prince Albert II was escorted to the Reception Hall to sign the Malacañang guestbook.
Prince Albert II is scheduled to have a private meeting with Aquino, possibly to be followed by a signing of agreements.
Prince Albert II, Aquino and their respective delegations are expected to tackle humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and environmental protection, among other issues.
The President and the Prince are also expected to issue a joint statement to be followed by a luncheon hosted by Aquino. Prince Albert II will then fly to the island-province of Palawan.
A passionate environmental conservationist and an advocate of climate change research, Albert II is expected to visit the Tubbataha Reef National Park, a marine and bird sanctuary in Palawan, as well as other sites in the province. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
