If there’s one thing President Benigno Aquino 3rd wishes for this Christmas, it’s for calamities to be over.
Speaking at the Christmas gathering of the Bulung Pulungan forum in Pasay City, the President shared his wish and hope for the Filipino people.
“Siguro lalo na ngayon, kapayapaan talaga. Sana matapos na iyong libro ng problema natin itong taon na ito. And I really hope that our people maintain the optimism in the current and the ‘can do’ attitude that is already being nurtured at this point,” he said
“So the wish really centers on, hopefully, there are no more challenges of this magnitude this year,” Aquino added
When asked what makes him get out of bed on his worst day, President Aquino said, “Para sa bayan [For the people].”
He stressed that backing out of the challenges facing him would be tantamount to letting himself be defeated by the challenges facing the presidency.
“Bottom line, everything we do affects so many people, and there is no time like the present, preferably, to have done things in the past already. At the end of the day, all of this is for the nation and the nation has so many faces. There are people that are directly affected by our acts and by our missions,” he added
The President admitted that 2013 has been a difficult year because the country endured several calamities.
However, he stressed that the government will not give up in overcoming these challenges. He is also proud to be the leader of a people who never gave up despite these challenges brought by different calamities.
“Mabigat ang taong ito pero hindi ito panahon ng pagsuko [It’s been a tough year but it’s not the time to surrender],” Aquino added.
