PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd’s public satisfaction rating has improved ahead of his fourth State of the Nation Address, a survey from pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) said on Monday.
The survey, conducted from June 28 to30 and was first published in SWS media partner BusinessWorld, showed that 76 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with President Aquino’s performance, while 12 percent said that they are not satisfied with the performance of the president.
This brought President Aquino’s net satisfaction rating to a “very good”+64 from a “very good” +59 in March. SWS reported that the five notch increase made Aquino’s score just three points lower from his all time highest record score of a “very good” +67 recorded in August 2012.
In a statement, Palace Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said that the Aquino government was “encouraged” by the results of the survey.
He noted the 76 percent was an improvement from the First Quarter results of 74 percent—which nearly “mirrors his record-high 77 percent rating recorded in August 2012.”
“This boost in satisfaction with the President bucks the trend of the past two years, which indicates lower satisfaction levels in the Second Quarter compared to the First Quarter,” Lacierda said
The Palace official also said that since the publication of Aquino’s first SWS public satisfaction survey in September 2010, the President’s ratings have not dipped below 63 percent.
“The President’s consistently strong ratings, especially in the wake of a midterm election widely regarded as a referendum on the success of his administration, affirm our administration’s mandate of good governance,” he said
“These sustained, positive numbers are reflective of the Filipino people’s enduring trust in and support of the President’s policies, initiatives, and reforms.” Lacierda added.
