Arellano University and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta posted convincing wins in Group B to stay unbeaten in the FilOil Flying V Pre-season Premier Cup 2016 on Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Arellano relied on Bylle Meca and Michael Salado to trounce College of Saint Benilde, 82-65, for its third consecutive win.
The Chiefs suffered a setback in the early minutes of the match after star player Jiovanni Jalalon was taken out of the game following an accidental elbow to the eyebrow from Benilde’s Clement Lentcheu.
Benilde held a two-point lead, 21-19, going into the second period.
But despite Jalalon’s absence, Arellano managed to come back from the shadows to beat the Blazers.
Meca finished with 15 points on a 70-percent shooting performance while Salado posted a big performance of 13 markers, nine boards and six assists.
Kraniel Villoria had 11 points and five dishes.
Christian Fajarito led Benilde with 21 points and nine rebounds. The Blazers absorbed their third straight defeat.
Gab Daganon and Bright Akhuetie lifted the Perpetual Altas to a 61-52, win over Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC).
Daganon notched 12 points, four rebounds and three assists while Akhuetie also finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two assists.
Jervin Guzman and Lamadou Haminou led the Generals with 12 and seven points, respectively. It was EAC’s second loss.
In the other game, National University notched its first win with a 70-65 trouncing of San Sebastian College-Recoletos.
Forward Matthew Salem led San Sebastian with 11 points.
