Arellano posted 405.5 total points to beat Perpetual by a mere point (404.5) to bag its very first cheerleading title. The team brought home the P100,000 cash prize plus trophy as the best cheerleading team in the oldest collegiate league in the land.

Perpetual Help took home P75, 000 for finishing second while the College of Saint Benilde (359.5) got P50,000 for finishing third.

Besides cheerleading, Arellano is also the champion in the NCCA women’s volleyball and chess.

Perpetual dominated the NCCA cheerleading competition during the last five years. The Perpetual Help team committed a lot of errors in their routines and stunts that cost them this year’s championship.

The 2009 champion Jose Rizal University finished fourth (353 points), followed by Emilio Aguinaldo College (344.5), Letran College (332), Lyceum of the Philippines University (322), Mapua Institute of Technology (301) and San Beda College (291).
