Armed Forces unveils world’s longest peace mural

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday inaugurated the world’s longest peace mural, which decorates the wall of Camp Aguinaldo along EDSA in Quezon City.

Dubbed as “Lakbay Para sa Kapayapaan sa EDSA,” the mural spans 3.77 kilometers, along EDSA, White Plains Avenue, and Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue in Quezon City.

It is a joint project of AFP, Asia America Initiative, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process, Dolphins Love Freedom Movement and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

It aims to apply the Filipino practice of bayanihan in solving armed conflict, promote awareness on Philippine history, to foster cultural and religious understanding and appreciation among Filipinos and also to highlight positive values and simple actions Filipinos can do to contribute in the peace process.

Research showed the Camp Aguinaldo mural will be the longest peace mural in Asia and beats Guinness record of 1 kilometer currently held by Chile.
