The Philippine Army dominated the Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns in three straight sets at the San Juan Arena on Tuesday to advance to the finals of Shakey’s V-League.
Cagayan nearly snatched the lead from the Army as consecutive errors plagued the latter in the final stretch of the first canto but Jovelyn Gonzaga stepped up to spike the ball home giving her squad the opening set, 25-23.
Despite going toe-to-toe in the second set, the offense of the Lady Rising Suns proved to be too weak for the volleybelles of Philippine Army as Denise Santiago struck two consecutive balls to give her team a two sets to nothing lead.
Philippine Army relied on the frontline trio of Rachel Daquis, Honey Tubino and Gonzaga to thwart off Cagayan Valley in three straight sets, 25-17.
