The Philippine Army Lady Troopers hope to live up to their lofty billing while the Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns are eyeing to get back to top form even as Petron Blaze Lady Spikers seek for revenge against Team Cignal HD Spikers in the Philippine Super Liga semifinals on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Army and Cagayan clash at 5 p.m. while Team Cignal and Petron battle at 7 p.m.
After dropping their initial game in a close battle against Cagayan, Army swept their next four opponents to advance outright to the final four stage while Cagayan Valley had to go through a playoff against PLDT for a spot in the semis after dropping their last two games of the elimination.
Both tagged as heavy favorites prior to the tournament, Army and Cagayan will not battle for the crown after all but play for the right to advance to the championship round set on Sunday.
Though Army is expected to become the first Super Liga champion at this point, Cagayan may still have one last magic up their sleeves to prove that they are still one of the elite teams in the league.
