DATU SAUDI, Maguindanao: The military here launched a manhunt for outlawed Moro rebels suspected of setting up an improvised roadside bomb on Tuesday morning that injured a soldier. Colonel Felicisimo Budiongan, 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade commander, said the soldiers were conducting foot patrol and road security monitoring going to Datu Piang town from Datu Saudi Ampatuan when the explosive went off at 9:30 a.m. in Barangay Lower Salbu. The blast site was a few meters away from the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade headquarters. Budiongan said the improvised explosive device, believed planted on Monday night, has the “signature” of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and was similar to bombs used by the outlaws in the past. Abu Misri Mama, BIFF spokesman, denied that his group was behind the attack.
