BRIGADIER General Jon Aying was designated on Thursday as the new commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3rd ID) based in Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz. Aying replaced Maj. Gen. Harold Cabreros, who was installed as Army vice commander. The change of command was presided by Army commander Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año. Aying is a native of Sara, Iloilo and a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1984. He would be leading various Army units in the Western and Central Visayas regions in implementing the Internal Peace and Security Operation and the Army Transformation Roadmap in his area of operation. Aying was the former assistant deputy at the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He commanded the 303rd Brigade in the Visayas from 2013 to 2015. His other field duties include being commander of the 61st Infantry Battalion and operations officer of Task Group Panay, both under the 3rd ID.
