MEMBERS of the Philippine Army (PA) shooting team bagged a total of six medals – two gold, one silver and three bronze – on Friday at the ASEAN Rifle Meet being held in Capas, Tarlac, a Philippine Army official said on Saturday. Army Captain Alberto Caber, chief of the Public Affairs Office (PAO) and Training and Doctrine Command of the Philippine Army, said the ASEAN Rifles Meet was held at the AARM grandstand last December 2in Camp O’Donnell in Capas. Winners were Sergeants Rodney Rizano and Benito Sumalag with gold medals in rifle and pistol categories; Sgt. Angelo Bonagua with bronze and silver medals for Carbine category matches, while Staff Sgt. Mar Udan and Private First Class Maria Liza Calubing received bronze medals for the rifle and pistol (female) categories. The 26th AARM Task Force Commander Brigadier General Herminigildo Francisco Aquino said in the same statement that the Philippine Army shooting team’s performance this year is far better compared to last AARM held in Thailand. The annual competition was participated by 10 ASEAN countries – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Singapore Vietnam, and Myanmar – that will end on December 7, 2016.
