As a follow up to last Sunday’s report that international Filipino artist Arnel Pineda, frontman of rock band Journey, The Manila Times learned that he collaborated with renowned celliest Jella Cello for his contemporary rendi-tion of the holiday classic “Jingle Bells.”
Cello recorded the instrumental portion of the song in Europe, while Arnel is set to lay down the vocals here in Manila this week. The song will be a mix of pop and classical music.
Arnel will lend his famous vocal stylings that have earned him international fame as with Journey to the Christmas song. Since joining the band in 2007, the proudly Filipino singer has been credited for reviving Journey’s return to the stage, performing to sold out crowds around the world.
Cello, who hails from Belgrade, Serbia, is an internationally noted cellist who uniquely blends classical stylings with pop and rock sounds. She has performed in front of packed venues in Europe with her 60-piece music ensemble, The Power Symphony Orchestra. She has a master’s degree in music and is currently in her final semester for her PhD. The award-winning artist divides her time between Los Angeles, California and Belgrade, Serbia.
The traditional Christmas tune is the first collaboration between the two artists who met in 2013 at a concert in the United States. The song is scheduled fore release in the first week in December and is produced by Sanre Entertainment.
