National University’s Alfred Aroga was named University Athletic Association of the Philippines the Press Corps-Accel Quantum Plus/3XVI Player of the Week after helping the Bulldogs regain the No. 3 spot in the men’s basketball tournament.
NU blasted Ateneo de Manila University, 76-66, last Sunday and Adamson University, 71-50, last Wednesday to improve its record to 7-3.
The Bulldogs and the Blue Eagles are sharing the third place behind league leaders Far Eastern University (7-2) and defending champion De La Salle University (7-2).
Aroga, a Cameroonian, averaged 11 points, 11.5 rebounds and five blocks in NU’s last two victories. He had 15 points, 11 boards and a season-high eight blocks against Ateneo and scored seven points, 12 rebounds and two blocks against Adamson.
“I was really prepared for this game,” said Aroga, who edged out FEU’s Roger Pogoy and Almond Vosotros of La Salle for the weekly honor supported by Bactigel Hand Sanitizer, Mighty Mom Dishwashing and Dr. J Rubbing Alcohol.
