Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. Zubiri Jr. gave full support to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the arrest of all drug offenders as he clarified reports that a drug suspect nabbed in the province on Sunday was not his bodyguard.
Zubiri said he has fired Marlou Madrial after he was arrested by PDEA in a buy-bust in his house in Barangay Labuagon, Kibawe town and found with seven packets of shabu worth P112,500.
He added that he terminated Madrial’s services as Administrative Aide 4 effective Monday for loss of trust and confidence.
Madrial, according to Zubiri, has never been a part of his closed-in security group.
“For the benefit of our allies in Bukidnon, my son’s colleagues in the Senate and the country in general, I will be transparent on this issue. We have never condoned illegal drug use, abuse and trade, and my instruction is to arrest all drug offenders, regardless whether the person involved is part of our family or staff.”
The arrest of Madrial came days after Zubiri ordered all provincial officials and employees to undergo a drug test.
“I count the arrest as a good sign that the PDEA has responded to calls for timely use of intelligence reports, the proper implementation of arrests and correct handling of evidence,” he said.
Zubiri assured the public of his full assistance to the PDEA, the Philippine National Police and the courts in stamping out illegal drugs.
