Arroyo leaves hospital jail

FORMER President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo left her detention cell at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City around 6 p.m. on Thursday, tasting freedom for the first time in four years.

Arroyo evaded media personnel waiting for her vehicle to get out of the Veterans’ hospital, and was reported to be on her way to the St. Luke’s Medical Center at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig for a check-up.

The former President was acquitted by the Supreme Court en banc on Tuesday of plunder charges filed against her by the government of ex-President Benigno S. Aquino 3rd in connection with the alleged misuse of P366 million in intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Arroyo is reported to be planning to attend the State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday.

  1. How can this country stop corruption ? Is it our culture or we were not capable in enforcing the law? When will this comedy end ? It seems that anarchy is all over the place. Look at the traffic, sidewalk vendors, squatters even in the center island of terminal 1. What I am definitely sure, we do not have proper enforcement. We have the law, we cannot enforce it.
