Top Rank Promotion boss Bob Arum said that there is no done deal yet for Manny Pacquiao to fight his former sparring partner Amir Khan.
Arum is pertaining to a report published by a British sports news website stating that Khan’s father confirmed that there is already a signed contract for the Pacquiao-Khan fight.
“The writer of that false story had just jumped the gun. There is still no contract between Pacquiao and Khan,” Arum told The Manila Times in a phone interview. “There is no truth about that report. Pacquiao’s next opponent will be formally announced soon.”
“In fact, Mike Koncz [Pacquiao’s adviser] will travel to Dubai to give the tapes of Crawford [American Terence Crawford ]and Amir Khan’s latest fights to Pacquiao. There was no contract to both fighters,” said Arum. “We are going to wait for Manny’s decision.”
Arum added that he is waiting for the result of the title fight of Bradley (32-1-1 win-loss-draw record with 12 knockouts) and former Pacquiao foe Brandon Rios at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday.
“If ever he pulls off a convincing win on Saturday against Rios, Bradley will be added to the mix of Pacquiao’s potential last opponent next year. Bradley has a new trainer, Teddy Atlas, and he is in good condition. I’m expecting him [Bradley] to give his best on Saturday, but Rios is not an easy opponent,” Arum said.
