• ASG man wanted for kidnap nabbed

A MEMBER of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) involved in the kidnapping of workers of Golden Harvest Plantation in Basilan in 2001 was arrested in his hideout on Thursday in Lantawan town.

Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the arrested ASG man as Abdullah Mutalib alias Yusop.

Mutalib was arrested at about 12:55 a.m. Thursday after a composite police team swooped down on his lair in Barangay Matikang in Lantawan by joint personnel of the 5th Special Action Batallion (SAB), 54th Special Action Company (SAC) and 53rd SAC led by Senior Insp. Allanor Mendir.

Police said Mutalib is facing eight counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention cases in connection with the Golden Harvest kidnapping 15 years ago.
