• ASG subleader arrested in Basilan


    GOVERNMENT security forces have arrested late Tuesday afternoon a sub-leader of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) at a remote village in Sumisip, Basilan, police reports said Wednesday. The leader was identified as Imrab Mijal, alias Boh, who is implicated in various criminal offenses including bombings, kidnapping, extortion, and the killing of soldiers and civilians. Seized from Mijal’s possession were an M-16 Armalite rifle, grenades, a caliber .45 pistol, and hundreds of bullets. The report reaching Camp Crame added that Mijal was brought to a hospital and is currently being treated for bullet wounds sustained after he resisted arrest.
