• Ash emission, lahar flows remain Bulusan’s danger threats

LEGAZPI CITY: Ash explosion and lahar flow will remain the danger threats posed by the Bulusan Volcano. This was the finding of a composite team from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Office of Civil Defense 5 (OCD5), Philippine Air Force-Tactical Operations Group 5 (PAF-TOG5) and Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office that conducted an aerial survey over the volcano on Tuesday morning. Jessar Adornado, operations officer of OCD5, and Col. Luisito Angeles Jr., PAF-TOG5 commander, said in separate interviews the survey team found newly emitted ash from the tip of the volcano as a result of the second phreatic eruption of the volcano last week. As a result of these new and old ash deposits, they said, there is the danger of lahar flows in case of heavy rains, toward Barangay Cogon of Irosin town.
