LUCIO Tan-led Asia Brewery, Inc. will soon produce premium beer brand Heineken in the country, a top company official said on Tuesday.
According to Michael Tan, president and chief executive officer of Asia Brewery’s parent firm LT Group Inc. (LTG), local production of the said premium beer will come “soon” in the country.
“We will be growing soon this year,” Tan said. “We will start with the Tiger [brand]first this year.”
Tiger beer is another brand produced by Heineken.
According to Tan, the partnership between Asia Brewery and Heineken, which was signed last year, is “promising.”
“We have the best right now. It’s available here at a very marketable price,” Tan said.
The joint venture with Heineken aims to develop a bigger market for beer and alcopop, according to Tan.
While Asia Brewery partners with international brands such as Heineken and Tiger, it will continue to export its Tanduay products.
“We’re looking for manufacturing opportunities, particularly beverages,” Tan said.
Asia Brewery currently has two breweries in the country: in Cabuyao, Laguna and in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.
It reportedly contributed P1.75 billion or 19 percent to LTG’s net income of P9.39 billion last year.
