THE 6th Asia CEO Awards recognized anew outstanding companies and business leaders across the different industries in the Philippines for their successful performance in 2015, and more importantly, their contribution to the country’s economic progress.
“Every year, the awards bring together top business leaders to celebrate the best of the best in business,” said Jovy Hernandez, sales and marketing head of Smart Enterprise who gave an inspirational message during the awarding ceremonies at the Marriott Hotel Manila in Pasay City.
“With the world’s eyes on the Philippines for the [recently concluded]APEC [Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation] summit and in light of the ongoing Asean [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] regional integration, tonight we celebrate and underscore the Philippines’ status as a global player,” Hernandez continued.
Meanwhile, Richard Mills, former president of Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and this year’s chairman of Asia CEO Awards said that 2015’s batch of winners are very diverse and as such comprehensively represents the upwardly moving business landscape of the Philippines.
“It’s been six years now [since we began mounting the awards]and as before our purpose is to promote the Philippines on a global scale by displaying the country’s most successful business leaders,” Mills said.
Construction industry pioneer David Consunji, chairman of DMCI Holdings, was conferred the Lifetime Contributor Award for the private sector. Consunji also served as Secretary of the Department of Public works and Highways from 1970 to 1975.
Ambassador Jose Cuisia Jr., Philippine envoy to the United States, also received the Lifetime Contributor award for the public sector. Cuisia was previously president and CEO of PhilAm Life.
Raymond Abrea, president and CEO of Abrea Consulting Group Inc., was given the Young Leader of the Year award.
Filipino-Chinese billionaire Andrew Tan, chairman of Alliance Global Group Inc. was given the Global Filipino Executive of the Year Award. Tan also owns Megaworld Corp., Emperador Distilleries and Golden Arches Development Corp.
Finally, the companies which were recognized for their outstanding performance in their respective industries were: Marriott Hotel Manila (Philippine Airlines Hospitality Destination of the Year), Ecosystems Technology Inc. (Technology Company of the Year), Aski Global Ltd. (Heart for OFWs Company of the Year), My-Checkpoints (Most Innovative Company of the Year), Cognizant Technology Solutions (Service Excellence Company of the Year), PMFT Inc. (CSR Company of the Year), WIPRO Philippines (Asean Company of the Year), Royal Cargo CEO Michael Raeuber (Expatriate Executive of the Year), ANZ (Global Top Employer of the Year), and Clark Development Corporation (Executive Leadership Team of the Year).
