HONG KONG: Asian markets mostly rose on Thursday morning as upbeat US data provided some cheer after two days of sharp losses fuelled by Britain’s EU exit, although fear of risk lifted the safe-haven yen.

The pound managed to hold up against the dollar, having recovered marginally from hitting a 31-year low Wednesday although uncertainty over Britain’s future is keeping downside pressure on the unit.
