TOKYO: Asian equity markets were higher on Monday after a weak US jobs report fuelled speculation that the world’s number one economy is not ready for an interest rate rise any time soon.

The positive movement also followed news that officials negotiating an ambitious Pacific trade pact were inching closer to announcing a deal.
