University of the Philippines (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University will clash in the first round of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s League 2016 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Both teams, after winning their respective games last weekend, are expected to put up an explosive final match before the holiday break starting next week.
Collegiate women’s football champions UP notched their second win in the tournament at the expense of Fuego Espana FC, 3-0, through the second hat trick of prolific scorer Mary Rose Obra.
On the other hand, the Lady Eagles handed University of Santo Tomas their first loss of the season with a come-from-behind 3-1victory, in December 11.
The Lady Maroons currently occupies the provisional fourth spot of the rankings with six points on two wins and a defeat while Ateneo holds a 1-1 win-loss card.
Meanwhile, Hiraya FC and The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) will collide in the opening game at 2 p.m.
During their previous match, Hiraya absorbed a late-game defeat from De La Salle University, 0-1, while the ladies of TYFA registered their maiden victory against Fuego Espana, 2-0.
