On the other hand, the Pirates carry a record of two wins and six losses in the first division of the premier collegiate pre-season football tournament.

In their previous game, the Ateneans won 3-1 over former second division winners University of Batangas through the goals of Samuel Lim, Julian Roxas and Mark Nacional.

The Lyceans, however, absorbed another loss, a 0-3 defeat in the hands of fellow National Collegiate Athletic Association squad College of Saint Benilde.
