FORMER mayor and now Rep. Lito Atienza of Buhay Partylist on Monday backed the move of former president and now Manila mayor Joseph Estrada to ban buses in the city.
Atienza, former Manila city chief, said that he is in support of the ordinance made by the former chief executive, saying that the cities within Metro Manila needed traffic management.
“I support it. Kailangan talaga natin ng management on traffic flow di lang sa Maynila kundi pati sa buong Metro Manila because we are already choking pero that should be just the beginning. They’re on the right track [I support it. We really need traffic management not only in Manila but also for the rest of Metro Manila because we are really choking. They’re on the right track],” he said.
He also said that aside from the buses, the current Manila mayor should also clear streets of debris, among others.
“Marami pang dapat na isunod dyan nung clearing of all the streets of debris mga stalled cars illegal use of narrow roads na ginagawang garahe,” Atienza said.
However, Atienza said that implementing such ordinance should also consider the riding public.
The bus ban that Estrada—who won the mayoralty bid against Alfredo Lim, Atienza’s rival for the said post—made will take effect Monday.
