AUDI announced it has produced a 1.6 TDI ultra variant of its A3 subcompact, which is the first among Audi’s production-car stable to wear the “ultra” badge. This means this new A3 variant is the brand’s most fuel-efficient production model to date.
Audi said the car will first be available in its home market of Germany in September.
Audi said its A3 1.6 TDI ultra consumes only 3.2 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and spews an astounding 85 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer. With an output of 110 horsepower, the car can reach 100kph in 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 200kph, so it is sporty, the carmaker contended. It added that equally impressive is the new A3 variant’s long-distance capability, thanks to a 50-liter fuel tank that affords a range in excess of 1,500 kilometers.
Audi said the five-door A3 1.6 TDI ultra is every bit as spacious and comfortable as the rest of its line of premium compact cars. The car is equipped with air-conditioning, radio and power windows as standard. The A3 1.6 TDI ultra is also available as a three-door compact or a five-door Sportback.
The latest A3 variant weighs 1,205 kilograms and its aerodynamics were enhanced not only by the S line side sills but also by lowering its stance by 15 millimeters. Low rolling resistance 205/55 R16 tires and a longer final drive ratio further improve the car’s miserly ways.
Along with the A3 1.6 TDI ultra, Audi said it will also soon release ultra versions of its other models that pack TDI and TFSI engines. These models will distinguish themselves through technology that reduces fuel consumption and emissions.
In the Philippines, Audi models are available at the brand’s showrooms in Greenhills, Alabang and Global City. Call 7270381 to 85 for more information.
