MANGALDAN, Pangasinan: A policeman, member of a gun-for-hire and drug pushing syndicate and listed as high-value target drug pusher in the provincial level, was killed in a shootout with policemen during a buy-bust along the boundary of Mangaldan and Mapandan towns at dawn on Wednesday. Senior Supt. Ronaldo Oliver-Lee, police provincial director, identified the suspect as Senior Police Officer 1 Donald Caasi Sanchez of San Carlos City who went absent without official leave before President Rodrigo Duterte declared a total war against illegal drugs. He said Sanchez is an active member of a drug-pushing syndicate allegedly headed by a former mayor of Pangasinan. Sanchez allegedly agreed to deliver five sachets of shabu to a police poseur buyer but he sensed that he was dealing with an undercover agent and pulled out his firearm and shot at his “buyer.” Sanchez died from multiple gunshots from other operatives who served as back-up in the drug sting. Recovered from Sanchez were six sachets of shabu and his caliber 45 pistol.
