The revamped Philippine national football team exhibited its new-found offensive power with a 7-1 win in a tune-up match against the United Football League (UFL) selection held at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.
The Azkals, who are currently training for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, aim to bolster their preparations with the friendly against the team comprised of the top foreign players of the UFL.
Returning Azkal Javier Patiño scored two goals in the contest while his fellow returnee Stephan Schrock contributed one goal.
Newcomers Kevin Ingreso and Iain Ramsey each added a marker a piece in the first game as a whole unit of the improved Azkals.
Global FC players and national football team mainstays Misagh Bahadoran and Mark Hartmann found the back of the net during the game.
Consequently, the Azkals will jumpstart their bid to qualify for the World Cup and the Asian Cup in the joint qualifier that will kick off, with a game against Bahrain on June 11.
The match will be followed by an overseas trip to Qatar for the team’s game against Yemen on June 16.
