Australian League club Perth Glory FC will hold a three-game tour in the country to be capped off with a game against the Philippine Azkals at the Quirino Stadium in Ilocos Sur on July 26.
According to a Philippine Football Federation advisory on its website, the event is a “strategic initiative of touring South East Asia with the objective of staging an official Hyundai A-League matches in the region.”
The club’s Philippine visit is part of Perth’s preparation for the upcoming 2016-2017 season of their domestic top flight, which will commence on October.
Perth Glory FC finished fifth in last season’s A-League with a record of 13 wins, four draws and 10 losses for a total of 43 points. The team bowed out of contention following its 2-0 defeat against Melbourne City.
Perth FC will play against Global FC in their first game in Manila at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on July 20.
The Australian squad will also face an all-star selection of foreign and local players from the United Football League at the same venue on July 23.
The Azkals are currently ranked 120th in the world. It slid five notches down from 115th, the highest ever rank it attained in May, after failing to schedule a friendly in the previous FIFA international break.
